Floor Needs to Go

I was finally able to get some work done on the ‘ol Shoebox. I new that the drivers side front floor pan was going to need replacing but I wanted to see what the extent of the damage was, so I pulled the interior. Four bolts later the front seat was out, then the back seat, and finally the carpet.
Looks like I’ll need both front floor pans.
I can’t figure out what all the black stuff on the floors is. Anybody know?

These are pictures of my 1951 Ford Custom right after it was pulled off of the flatbed. I could have started with something a bit more complete, but I wanted a real challenge for my first build. I really wanted to put my mark on something.
